- Conduct background research to find statistics, data, and information to
prove the need for the project.
- Develop an understanding of the project by interviewing those persons
who will be responsible for carrying out the program or project mission.
- Through the interview process acquire an understanding of the organization,
its mission, history, current programs/projects, and the people it serves in
order to develop a robust proposal that is a persuasive, written case for
funding.
- Prepare the grant application using strong expository writing skills and a
command of grammar and spelling.
- Prepare the grant proposal in accordance with the grant-making
organization’s preferences by following the granter's guidelines in exacting
detail.
- Provide evaluation and/or follow-up reports as requested after a project or
program has been funded at your organization's discretion.
